its the rodeo from nashbar, but Im looking for any reviews of pedals with cage on one side and clipless on the other. I know performance has one too.

also what side faces up naturally. Posted in road but want your guys opinion as you ride like I do.

My daughter and a friend used the Performance (Forte) version of this pedal to ride across the US (4200+ miles) and subsequently for around home and campus. They are reasonably satisfied with them. Seem like an OK pedal.

Im knew to clipless, are they spd? the shoes I just got are spd. Also, the shoes I received came with no cleats (if this is what they are called, im referring to what you put in the recesses of the shoes to clip on to the pedal). Are the shoes supposed to come with them or do they come with the pedals?

My SPD cleats came with the pedals, shoes without.

I bought the same pedal from Nashbar, & they didn't work for me (& I do like most Nashbar products, for the price....)

I prefer to tour wearing mountain shoes, rather than road shoes, for ease in walking. With my shoes (some model of "661" brand) the pedal SPD binding doesn't seem to project far enough above the pedal platform to allow the shoe's cleat to engage. Likely wouldn't be a problem for road shoes (i.e., without the shoes' treads in the way), or maybe for other mtn shoes.

im using mountain shoes too. staehpj1, did your daughter or her friend use mountain shoes with the forte versions?

She used a Shimano shoe on the TA. I am not sure, but I think it was an MT-31, it looked different than the MT-31 currently listed in the catalogs though.

She was not completely happy with them partly because they didn't fit as well as she would like (she blames unisex sizing for the fit issues). They also didn't hold up real well. They were splitting and thread bare in the back after the TA and not much other use. She recently replaced them with a pair of womens Sidi Bullet 2s and I think she likes them a lot better, but they are still new.

We met a few other folks that had the same MT-31 and the ones who mentioned them were very happy with them. They are probably better for walking in than the Bullet 2s. OTOH: My Bullet 2s have held up very well so far and were OK for short hikes along the way. Sometimes I did feel like I needed a break from the Bullets and put on my Crocs for off bike wear some of the time.
