Tandem Cycling - My "new" 60's Gitane tandem

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Mid 60's lugged French made Gitane. Picked up last night via Craigslist, got a great deal, currently not ride-able, needs alot of work but should be a fun project. 19 more pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10836334@N00/sets/72157606969471997/

That's going to take a complete stripdown and rebuild . . . twin laterals + twins for stoker's mixte. May need some bracing between those twin tubes to stiffen up the frame a bit. Older Gitanes were notoriously whippy.
Good luck with your project!
Lovely! You should post photos of this in the classic&vintage forum, they'll love it.

Hey, very nice. I just passed on a chance to pick one of these up. If anyone in the Toronto area is looking for one, I can put you in contact with the owner/seller.
Here is a couple of pictures. I have not seen it in person, so I can't tell you what it has for components.
