Hi All,
I haven't visited for some time (sorry!), but I thought that I would now find lots of posts about the amazing "monowheels" in the closing of the Beijing Olympics.
Really was incredible, was I the only one who saw it??

You were not the only one...I too was amazed to see the monowheels. amazing, wonder what they are like to ride. I have tried unsuccessfully to ride a uni- but am too old to break my head trying...however on one of those it might be worth a try, balance would be different.

Yeah, I saw it- some of the riders made it look like the balancing was a bit tricky... we definitely decided that we must have one, somehow. As well as the see-saw-counterbalance-beam thingy.

The unicycle world has been on top of this for a while:

Yeah I saw and totally wanted one.
I wonder if they'll be selling them cheap now that the olympics is over...Olympic Surplus :thumb:
of course this begs the question...who made them?
The idea has been around for a while, google around and you will find some pretty crazy ideas from the early days of cycling.
Kerry McLean has been making bad-ass gas-powered ones for a long time... youtube his name and crash to see what happens when you put a v-8 in one and loose control.

You probably would not have to worry about anyone stealing it, which is a good thing, because I think they would be a bit cumbersome to try to lock.

I discovered about those a year or so ago. All I have been able to find out about them is that they are made in a factory in Xian, the ancient capitol of China.
