What are your preferences? Hard/Soft waterproof brand/model?

I like the pannier/daypack from MEC but they are a bit small, problem is that anything much bigger gets in my way when peddling.

Ortlieb is my favorite manufacturer, they are waterproof.

My all time favorites are DIY's

Not if the front edge is profiled with a heel cutout.

Look for light but tough material, stiff back and base, locking, quick-release mount not hook and elastic.
For everyday use I prefer flap-top to roll top, access is quicker.
Ortleib, Arkel, carradice, vaude are all top names.
