Generally, I try to ride after I finish teaching. As I get to school quite early in the morning, I can get to the trail by about 4:10, and be on the way by about 4:15.
However, this comes to a halt about October 15th due to shortening days and colder weather and the stop of daylight savings time.
However, it will be about 63F tomorrow, and I have noticed it staying a little bit light until about 5:45, so, for the first time since October, I have put my trusty mtn bike in the back of my hatchback, anticipating a 1.5 hour ride tomorrow pm.
The wind will be about 10-15 mph, but that won't bother me a bit!
Just sort of a landmark in the new biking season!
Wish me luck.

hey DnvrFox,
yeah, Spring is coming. we had such great weather here (11C - 52F) and SUNSHINE monday and Tuesday (today's cloudy again), so yesterday i took off from work at 3pm, rode for 2 1/2 hours and then came back and worked late. VERY worth it!
sunset here is just after 5:45, so yuo can ride until 6pm! not long and a real "after work" ride will be possible!

It's a gorgeous day here in Denver, ain't it? I'm frustrated, though - a few offsite meetings today plus a possible flight to Utah this evening means I had to drive the car and probably won't have time for a lunchtime ride. The bike's in the back, just in case... :)
Enjoy your ride this afternoon, DnvrFox!

I did - THOROUGHLY!
Got to the trail at 4:08, and was on the trail by 4:12 (had to mount the front wheel and change).
Did a wonderful 1.5 hour ride.
The neatest thing was that I have been practicing my cadence all winter on the trainer, and I averaged about 108 rpm the whole 1.5 hours. FUN!
So I guess this is my OFFICIAL start of the 2004 spring season!
I met a dad and son panning for gold in the middle of Clear Creek in the mioddle of Denver. They had some sort of motorized pump to assist, and YES, they found gold - they said a "lot."
Hmm!! And I spend my time teaching?
Supposed to snow tomorrow!

Good stuff! It hurt me bad to be stuck in the office all day today.
Hopefully the weekend weather stays clear and not too cold and we can both get good rides in... :D
I know how you feel Dnvr. It was 55F when I got home last night and the days are getting longer so I headed out for my usual ride and got in 25 miles. If it weren't for the rush hour traffic slowing me down :crash: I could have done a few more miles.
Today it is supposed to be 65F and I have to work until about 8pm. :fight: I'm not interested in overtime - I want to enjoy MY time after work.
Come on Spring!!!
