Hi all,
Quick question: I have a 3 year old Ultegra BB and crankset. Which type is it? Square, Octalink, ISIS??? How can I tell without taking off the cranks?
Thanks in advance! :)

Well, it isn't ISIS as Ultegra was never made in ISIS format. If you take out the bolt holding the crank arm in place you should be able to see the shape of the spingle, be it square or splined. You won't have to remove the crank arms to do this, just the bolt. All you need is a 8mm allen wrench.
I think it should be Octalink...
As for ISIS, I think you'd only see that with FSA and Truvativ on a road bike...
Yep, ISIS is the "open" standard, developed by the industry to enable other manufacturers to compete with the proprietary Shimano Octalink. I like the competition to Shimano, and just got a new frame built with the FSA Megatech OS BB (w/ISIS spindle), and FSA crankset.
Yup, I run an FSA ISIS BB with a Truvativ ISIS crank...
