Southern California - Why should I join your club?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm going to join a club next season. So why should I join yours?
I'd never join any club that would have me as a member.
But I hear Chuckles really has a soft spot in his heart for Swamis. How about them?

Swamis are a bunch of ***'s. You don't even get race reimbursements. All you get is that silly Smurf suit.

Quit beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel.
Mark, why don't you ride with the club(s) that meet up closest to your house and see how you like them.

I still have your front DR. Are you off Friday?I wish. I'm going to work a 5-day week for the first time in 3 years.
I might bail out at lunch though. The stress is killing me.

You shouldn't. I'm just kidding. It is far though. I think Sean (our only rider from the SD area) wears a different kit at the track because he doesn't have any teammates down there.

Because I want to make a silly post on the Innernet.
I've ridden with SDBC and Cyclo-Vets. They are 12 and 15 miles away. Those are the closest clubs I know of. There is Mira Mesa Cycling Club, but I actually never see them out and about. Are there any clubs in Poway with a presence?
How far are you from San Marcos? We meet at Old California Restaurant Row every Saturday at 8.

Really, really, far.

Let me know if you guys are getting together Friday afternoon for a ride. I might be able to bail early myself and join in...

I've seen the Mira Mesa Club ride through Torrey on their way back to MM from time to time. I personally would not join their club as their uni colors is mainly halloween orange - which does not even go with my bike - can't have that. If you guys are riding Friday afternoon, let me know as well as I've got this Friday off and will be golfing in the morning. If not, I'll be heading down to Veloculture to look for a cheap bike.

Honestly i am probably going with Dewalt. I know about 6 of thier riders well and the Co-Captain used to be my Commanding Officer, so we get along well.

I would but you guys are soooo far away...i am not commuting 50 miles to get a group ride in with my teamates bro. You are my second choice that's for sure. We'll see how things work out for Dewalt, they might not even want me given my stellar race season i had.
Friday at 1 or 2 pm. Who's in?
I have a meeting until 1, I can be ready to ride at 1:30.
Where should we meet?
Starbucks at the Carlsbad Company Stores at 2 pm. That OK for everyone?

Oh, their not all that bad. And they do have a race reimbursement program. At least the site says so. No, I don't belong to them. But, most of them have been pretty nice to me and helped me out a good bit this year.

Yeah, I know... There are several that I get along with just fine, but there have been several instances in races this year that have done nothing but reinforce my(and several others') negative overall opinion of them. Their Cat4 team especially. Heck, I know of one person who rides for them and doesn't care for them:lol:
for the most part, though, I'm just messing around.

I wish I had real live cycling friends. I ride with the owner of my company sometimes. But that is the extent of people I know that cycle. I live in Carlsbad off of Cannon road. Somebody PLEASE invite me to something.
Go to Old California Restaurant Row at 6 am on Saturdays. There are 2 rides, one about 40 and one about 60 miles. For a routeslip and more info, see northcountycyclingclub.com
Edit - might want to wait until 8 am.
Another edit - The real site is www.northcountycycleclub.com Click on Roadies and it will have the monthly ride schedule.
