Anyone have any experience with Velomax wheels? I'm thinking of getting a set of Circuits, but am still a little unsure. RoadBikeReview has nothing but praise, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any other impressions.
Thanks

I've had my Circuits for about a year and a half and they are fine wheels. I did have the rear cassette body give out after a few months but I believe that was due to me getting degreaser into the mechanism. (Tip: Don't try to save time cleaning your casstte by leaving it on the wheel and spraying it with degreaser!) It was still under warranty so they gave me the option of returning the wheel and they would replace the body or sending me a replacement body. I opted for the latter and received it a few days later. There customer service was very good.

I had some and liked them. One thing that scared me was that the instructions for replacing hub bearings looked impossible without an engineering degree. They may have improved that since I owned them. The instructions for the Ascent IIs I have now look much simpler.

They are nice wheels, i was deciding between the Ksyrium Elites and the Velomax Circuits. I went with the Elites. No reason other than i got a better deal on the Elites.

I've had a set of Circuits for three seasons with no problem other than I made the same goof as a previous post, I used too much degreaser (simple Green). That was my fault not Velomax's. Great wheels.

I have the model down from the Circuits, the vista wheelset. (note: only available as OEM with a full bike from certain manufacturers) These are slightly deeper rims, slightly heavier with a few less spokes. I am very pleased with these wheels, and although at 1797grms for the set, they accelerate quick, they are strong, and roll really fast (especially with Pro Race tyres) and are 10x better than my training wheels.

I got the Circuits recently with my new frame. Really like them so far...500 miles. The hubs seem to be well-sealed, well-finished and low friction, and the freewheel is almost silent.
Two words for you, LOVE ‘EM!
I put 2000 miles on my circuits last summer, and they are still true. I’m a heavy rider, 235-245 pounds depending on what part of the season it is.

Nice write up on them in the local newspaper here a couple of months ago. The shop is around here somewhere, kinda a ma and pop smaller company with workers very concerned about the product they are putting out. Very good customer service.
Velomax website says they are at 619 W. 14th, Long Beach, CA. I like US companies also who are competing with the big names with world-class products.

I was very interested in the Circuits myself, but ultimately decided on getting the Velomax Tempest's. There is a guy on ebay selling the tempest, not the Tempest 2's , so they are last years model, I bought mine for around $300 and the original price on them was close to $700. The guy has sold over 100 sets of these wheels and they arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I contacted Velomax directly about durability concern, since the Tempest's have less spokes than the Circuits, but was assured that both wheels were suitable for my size 220 lbs.. Just my $0.02 worth.... Here's a link ....

OK, got the Circuits last week. HOLY CRAP! I love these wheels! SO much faster than my old set (stock wheels that came on an 04 Specialized Elite). Silent as they come and so smooth. Thanks for all the input, it really made a difference.
