Southern California - Climbing ride Saturday 8/30

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Roll from rec center in Lake View Terrace at 8:00 for Big Tujunga, AF, AC and who knows how far. If you want to start at 6:45, you can warm up on Little T with Keith. I've been seriously slow lately, so slower climbers are welcome.

How's Big T compared to Little T? I just did Little T last week for the first time.

Big T is only 9 miles from bottom to top, some steeper sections, but most of it is tame. The road surface is pretty bad at the bottom, but as soom as the climb starts, it's fine.
When we get to the top, we turn right on Angeles Forest for 4 miles to Angeles Crest, then left and on up. You can turn back anytime, or go down AC to Foothill.

Sounds fun, I may be up for that.

Probably by 8:20? Not sure if we will start on time, but we usually do. Join us!

So what happened? I thought you were coming with us, we went to Newcomb Ranch and had lunch.

Rolled out at the back form 7-11, probably covered about a block and flatted the rear tire. So I think if I change this really quick I can catch back on easy. Change the tire and take off, make the turn at the bottom of the hill and flatted the front tire. Phoned my wheel support vehicle and went home. Hope you all had a good day-weather for the rest of your ride.

That sucks! You'll have to come with us on the next one, it's a very friendly group. We have fast riders if you want to go fast, then there's me, off the back if you just want to cruise.
The weather was fine until Big T on the way back, then it was stupid hot. Good thing most of the climbing was done. I still ended up 7 pounds lighter and had a bad cramp in my hamstring at home.

Sorry I missed it as well. I'm still recovering from a saddle sore I got earlier on in the week. I rode with a pair of shorts that I probably should have retired a while ago. How often do you guys ride as a group?

All of us on this ride were SFVBC members, so different rides are available every weekend. Some of the people on that ride are racing some weekends, some of us never race. Visit our website, or watch here for remote start rides, (all rides start at CSUN, normally). We had 4 women on this one, that was cool.

Last thing I want at the start of a ride is to have everyone stop and watch me patch tubes. No reason at that point to hold everyone up. A 20 mile walk home would have been a different story.
