I need some recomendations for a long-lasting seat I can use for commuting, c.c. tours, and those long 3 state tours. I have the Serfas double density commuter, but after a month it feels like it is beginning to break down. What do you think of the Brooks B-17? I've read some good reviews on it in these forums, but have no recent experience of my own. What would you suggest? What do you ride on? Thanks for the tips to come.
Cheers,

Do you use dropbars?
Do you have your saddle higher, lower or flat with your handlebars?
Flat or higher than your bars go unsprung.
Lower than your bars go sprung.
Flat bars go more narrow... drops go a bit wider.
Short answer for drops... B17 for level or higher than bars, B67 for lower than bars.
Flat bars... level or higher: B17 Narrow or Professional, lower Conquest.
This is ONLY opinion, MY opinion... based on experience and many conversations with long distance tourists.
Get a Brooks. However, if you leave you bike out all day at work, make sure you keep it protected from rain with a cover designed for the saddle, a cheap shower cap, or even a plastic grocery sack.
There is only one answer the Brooks, and for touring it's the B17 Professional. Rivendell sells a seat cover for the Brooks to protect it.
