Foo - A Wee Dram Or...?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was contemplating this after a soggy commute home last night: How lovely it is, after a rainy, wind-swept ride, to arrive home bedraggled and sodden and find a few moments relaxation on one's apartment balcony with half a fistful of whisky (or whiskey, if one prefers)! Be it the mellow, soothing caress of a good scotch or the sweet sting of a favored bourbon, what could be finer?*
What are the other wind-down pursuits and predilections to be found among us? Discuss.

If it's not nice enough to be out on the balcony, then sit inside listening to Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D. And my vote goes to a nice old armagnac.
A few beers with AC/DC or Jim Morrison blasting it out :D

A wee dram of Glen Fiddich is a nice way to cap a great day :D

ohhh, man, those all definitely fall solidly into the category of "earned rewards." very satisfying.
for myself, I recently left a nice chicken soup going in the slow cooker, all set to be ready for when I got back. there's an incredibly homey, welcoming aroma to the air when you open the door, when you have something like that simmering.
but as far as a drink? too many favorites to pick one, but I do like having a bottle of red waiting on the coffee table and the latest Arrested Development cued up so I can slump onto a sofa while I wind down.

I'll take the Jethro Tull but the IPA bites too hard for my palette, must be the amount of hops it take to make it. :D

Van Morrison doing Caravan or And It Stoned Me, a snifter of Glen Fiddich, Glen Morangie, or a good barley wine... already got the post workout glow going, this just makes it all turn golden.

This coming from a homebrewer?? :)
The hoppier the better for me. But I did find Robcat's whiskey suggestion very appetizing. Maybe I'll have to stop by the liquor store tonight on my soggy commute home. Back in college it was a half gallon of R&R whiskey in one hand, and a 2 liter of generic Pepsi in the other for chaser, Dropkick Murphys or The Clash in the background. I think tonight I'd prefer a snifter of brandy with Miles Davis in the background. Well, maybe the Clash...

If you fall asleep on the couch, at least you won't crash it into the television.
