Folding Bikes - Where to buy chainguards?

I'm going to soon either upgrade to some sugino cranks or a used shimano 105 with sugino ring. I can't find anywhere online that sells 130 BCD chainguards like the ones that come as standard on Dahons / most bikes. It's easy to get whopper down hill types or chunky retro steel things, but I'm after something light.

I've seen someone on these forums made their own by sanding the teeth from a larger ring, but I don't have access to the facilities to be doing that sort of thing.

I see Velo Orange have a 110 BCD sugino chainguard. . . where's the 130s? Of course, ideally I want a UK retailer but importing is better than nowt.

Would a brompton chainguard fit? I see SJS cycles have some but they don't state the BCD.

BBG Bashguards (http://bbgbashguard.com/index.html) has some that go up to 44T in their cyclocross and superlight models. Or you might be able to order one from Xootr for their Swift folding bike (http://xootr.com/xootr/swift/bikes.shtml). The one that came on my Swift is 130BCD for a 52T ring. You could probably even use a 53T ring with it.

Bike Friday sells 130mm chain ring protectors, but they are not inexpensive.

They are simply machined-down chain rings.

I had to order a couple of new ones when we switched from 42T to 46T front chain rings.

If you didn't buy the crankset already, why not consider a compact double? It'll be 110bcd already, so you can use any of the chainring guards you've found.

They are probably relatively easy to get anywhere.

I don't know much about varieties of cranks; I'd settled on the Sugino RD or a second hand Shimano road chainset as they're light and I want a 48T ring. I was under the impression that 110 BCD is more common on mountain bike chainsets which are likely to be a little heavier.

Did you have a particular chainset in mind that'd fit the bill?

Basically any compact double will have 110mm. Even if you choose 130mm, you can find chainring guards that will fit, you'll just have to search a little for it. You really only need 110mm if you want a smaller chainring than a 130 can allow (I need a 33t or 34t for a Sturmey Archer wheel I'm building).

The Brompton chainring guards are plastic rings that attach to the Brompton chainring itself through holes. It probably won't fit any other chainring set.
