happy labor day everyone. winters comming but I do love fall here in the northeast.

is their some place to purchase all /most components needed???

My Inoled light died last night , its being replaced under warranty but I have to say I wasnt too fond of it ! its nice and wide but I dont like the dark spot from the focused cutoff and brighter would be better.

$200.00 for a supernova or edelux is and option but often One can make a equal or many times a better system for less $$.

Ive always been a diy type and would like to put together a LEd that would work with my schmidt hub. I have an existing B& M tailight thats in working order.

Ive been looking at the Leds avail and the offering is good cree Q5 but I havnt been able to find an online vendor that has all or at least most of the components. Im not worried about housings .

seems like the cree q5 is a popular choice, but optic from another vendor??? diodes and such are easy to find localy , I have much stuff at work.

Who is using what these days as the led TECH CHANGES FAST.

a single LED very bright (big heat sink ok) any suggestions??

Many thanks

Kaidomain has a good selection of optics, LED's, and thermal grease.

I get my LEDs and optics from cutter (http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut651).
The triple or quad MR11 works well. Narrow optic for road wide for MTB. I'm upgrading my narrow triple R2 to a penta with standlight, pm me if you're interested in it(see sig dyno triple road).

Housings from rectangular al section, mounts are cateye. Heatsinking not as important on a dyno because you always have cool airflow.

Capacitors, wire switches etc are from any good electronics store(about 5-20$ depending on circuit) see www.pilom.com for circuit ideas...

many thanks to the both of you,

looks like obtaining stuff is easy enough I just wanted to avoid having to order from 2 or 3 vendors , even if shipping is free its still a hassle.

the standard parts are easy caps resistors ... I have a very good industrial electronic supplier in town.

Im just wondering what led to go with single or multi LED?? for the road pitch black MUP

id like to integrate a standlight function but not needed if I can make very bright compact light (ill use a blinkie)

ZNOIT PM on the way Im a die hard Diver as well.

have a great weekend

Here is a single LED headlight I just completed.

Already has its own thread.

Why copy and paste that here when you can just link to it?

I like the elliptical beam diffusers since they cast a uniform wide light much like an automobile. Ledsupply.com carries these for the Seoul P4s. I wasn't too crazy about the optics at Kai or DX since the specs were lacking or not even there.

Definitely go with multiple leds. You won't even notice the additional resistance.
