Hello,
Name's Gbaby, living on the south shore of MA, but go to school in Cincinnati. Been riding for a long time, started w/mostly MTN but nowadays is strickly road. Found the forums b/c I'm currently in the process of upgrading my Giant OCR3 to a "higher level" road bike, as I've gotten much more serious and started racing. So looked around briefly at a few models, but had a pretty good idea that I wanted to build it custom - save a boat load of money and have the experience/enjoy the project during the summer (used to work in a bike shop so know the ins and outs of a bike pretty well). So i looked around, shopped everywhere to find the rock bottom price for each component and searched the forums a bit, esp. thru google b/c i wasn't a member to scope out the vast array of products out there. So i ordered up all the parts and all was looking good till I started the assembly. at the point of installing the campy BB bearing cups (the "new" type I guess, the external cups) however things got bad. i was unaware that i need to face and chase the bb on the frame prior to installing the cups. so got the the left one in fine but the right side became very difficult way too early. so stopped and checked to make sure i wasn't crossed threaded, which it wasn't and continued to muscle that cup in. well it never made it all the way in, and so was able to get it out after i realized i was in a heap of doo doo that the two crank arms would not meet. so took the frame down today to get it chased and faced, and had to order a new set of cups b/c the ones i had gotten got shredded in the process. but can't thank the forums enough for everything thus far and I can only hope i can contribute what little knowledge i may possess. Peace and chicken grease. -Gbaby
