Got this suede Celle Royal womans seat that I like a lot. Came with my dumpster find 81 mixte. I like it a lot, but there is small cracks in the center of it, so I wnt to ask what to do. Got this idea (from caring for shoes?) that you should not put oil or grease on suede. What should I do?

Ha. No, don't grease suede. That would not be good.

Can you provide a pic so we can see the cracks?

Is it REAL leather suede? If so, you use suede protectant spray. You can get it at leather shops and some shoe shops. It is silicon and alchohol based. The coating rubs off easily from riding, so you have to use it frequently, real suede will matte easily if it gets wet and with riding it.

You can preserve the nappy look by frequently brushing the suede with a clean brass brush. Once the felt is glazed matte, it's done. I never found a way to bring glazed matte suede back to nap.

Thank you. I think my camera (phone) is not good enough to take close ups, and they are tiny but they are there. I am absolutely sure it is suede, not just suede look.

I remember the wirebrush thing from my mothers instructions. It ts matte, but not with shiny parts. I think the shiny part is when the top layer is kind of remowed by wear, but mine is not much worn, just old. Hub on the bike it came with says 81 and I think they stayed together for some time.

I`ll bring the seat to my "photo nuts" friend and ask her to take pix, I`ll be back in a few days.
