What do you y'all think of the 1x1 fork? Is there something in the same price range ($50-$75) that's any better-- weight/strength/tracking wise?

If you don't need disc tabs, a Kona Project 2? That's what I use on my mtb.

I own and have ridden/ride the Surly 1x1 V-brake fork, Dimension disc fork and the Surly Disc fork (current setup, others are lent out). FYI: Surly is owned by QBP, QBP makes Dimension stuff. All forks are very similar, same rake etc. No problems with any of them, you probably can't find a better combo of price/weight/strength.

Cool. I've read a rant about the Surly's weight, but the *****ing seemed pretty trivial. Looking into some Konas on eBay at the moment...

A Surly weighs 2.5#, not really heavy and certainly lighter than almost all suspension forks. If you get a high zoot custom fork you can get in the 2# range but expect to pay around $200 or more. And I certainly wouldn't be putting it through the torture testing I do with the Surly.
