If you're in the Mid-Hudson Valley this coming weekend, check out the Woodstock Century on Sunday Sept. 7th. It's a small well-run ride put on by the Mid Hudson Bicycle Club.

The ride features beautiful views of the lower Catskills, the Ashokan Resevoir & lots of rolling country roads. There are 37, 67 & 100 mile loops, along with a 6 mile family ride.

The ride is inexpensive as well. $25 walk in registration. Here's the link: http://www.midhudsonbicycle.org/?q=node/92

Just got back from a 4 day family getaway in that area.
I brought my bike up "just in case" :).
The house we rented was off road quite a bit and so I had to bring it down to the road on my car.
Unfortunately I couldn't find anywhere to leave the car while I rode so the bike stayed on my roof rack.
I drooled as I drove those roads up there.
This is a good opportunity to get back up there and do some riding.

The website mentions level 2 and level 4 rated terrain.
I know you rode the Harlem Valley.
How do those levels compare to the climbing done on that ride?

Frankie,
There were climbs on the Woodstock ride last year, but nothing as steep as Mt. Washington on the Harlem Valley ride. There are some serious climbs in the area (Devil's Kitchen, Craigsmoor, See the Roberts site for all of them) (http://www.roberts-1.com/bikehudson/r/m/climbs/index.htm) but last year's route avoided them. I think there were quite a few long gradual grades, but nothing too difficult.

I wouldn't want to do anything like the Mt. Washington climb until I do it again next year.
This woodstock ride sounds great. I have to see if I can get back up there next weekend.
If not, there's always the "fun" NYC Century next Sunday.
Twin Lights is also coming up soon.
Thanks for the info.

Missed this ride, due to car trouble in the a.m. I did manage a long ride anyway. Hope all that did the ride enjoyed it. The weather was beautiful.

Sunday 9/12 : They've brought this back as the Catskills Century (http://www.midhudsonbicycle.org/node/208). Don't know if the route will be the same.
