Cyclocross - What's the Tricross fork really made of?

I managed to snap the fork (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=459510) of my Tricross sport clean in half, above the "zertz" thing, and was surprised to see what looks like solid aluminium, rather than carbon fibre. Is the carbon fibre just the bottom 30 cm or so? Then what exactly is the zertz? And what's the top section?

Sorry to hear of your accident Steve. That was a new bike as well wasn't it?

I always assumed my Tricross Sport (07), was made from carbon fiber under the "Zertz" only, with aluminum above the Zertz.

Hope you recover quickly!

I suppose you've already started to think about replacing the bike. Do you think that you will go with the same model or go with something else?

can you post some pictures of the broken fork? i'd be interested in taking a look at it. (did it snap right at the junction of the alu/zertz? and what were you doing at the time?
