I have an old, possibly vintage, bike from the 80s, and I was wondering if you would recommend that I use it to make a cyclocross bike?
It's a 1984 Maruishi Tourace, with 27' wheels. It was a $1000 bike in 1984. It has all of it's original components in good working order, too.
Perhaps, I shouldn't be in the cyclocross forum.... I'm extremely out of shape, so a super high performance bike is not what I had in mind. What I was thinking was a good touring bike with coaster bike type wheels to handle my weight(400lbs), for on road use only, to and from work 26km each way. Maybe I'd be better off with a mountain bike with 2 inch wide slicks on it?
