I've been told I should get rid of my brake extension levers. I have two bikes that have them. I need a shorter lever axle, where would I get such a thing and how would I specify what I want?

Another option is simply to cut off the threaded end of the pivot. If you have Weinmanns or DiaCompes, you can order decent, inexpensive rubber brake hoods from CyclArt.com.
