My Schwinn Izip is still running it's stock wheels and rubber, and I'm a more than a bit concerned about the weight on my back tire.

I'm 400lbs( not much I can do about that except diet and exercise) and I have 2 SLA batteries on the back.

Has anyone had experience with the wheels self destructing?

Also, is there a load rating on the side wall of bike tires?

and,

I've been keeping the pressure at it's maximum of 65 psi, in fact, I've been pushing it up to 80 psi thinking that if I'm extreme that the pressure should be, too. But this has me nervous, has anyone ever used higher pressures on a tire to compensate for their battery weight?

hmmm..... I'm going to run outside and give my wheels a quick inspect.

brb!

the rubber is good, the stock rims are cheap. a good set of double wall rims works well.

Thanks Karma,

I did some checking on the internet about Veronique rims.

it looks like they are double wall rims, but the spokes and nipples are cheap.

If or when I rebuild, I'll switch to something like the velocity deep V, and stainless steel spokes.

I don't mind spending a little money as long as its a couple hundred bucks at a time. if thats not enough for both wheels, I'll do the back wheel first.
