Steer very clear of this rotten company. They refused to warranty a pair of shoes which seriously fell apart after 7 months modest use. They gave me the smiley runaround then told me to go to hell in the end. Utter jerks, and crap product!

If you purchased the shoes on a charge card, you might be able to obtain a refund from the card company (might depend on the problem, e.g., if there was a defective product not subject to abuse).

I've heard good things about Lake in the past, especially their winter shoes. Can you give more details on your experience?

They're a popular brand, and known for good products. So before you bash them, we'll need more details.

What shoes, and what went wrong?

The soles both fell off about 40% each, they cracked perpendicular to the ground in several places, the rubber under my foot is disintegrating significantly, the straps are decaying a fair bit.
I just wore them for commuting and some touring, treated them kindly, nothing rough.
My first call to lake left me believing they would help me out. I sent photos, and waited many weeks before finally calling the same guy back. He then waffled and said he'd though it was just wear and tear, and said he'd let someone else there look at the pics too. They never deigned to respond.
Thusly I say this company sucks royal a ss and so do their shoes.
I used to garden in my shimanos and they lasted for years.

By contrast, I just bought a VDO bike computer in germany, but didn't open it til I got home. The screen was a bit roughed up because of contact with its plastic case window, they didn't put a soft plastic protector on it as most similar things get.
I emailed them complaining, and then emailed back telling them not to worry, I just gave it to a friend who didn't mind the scuffs.
Two weeks later, a brand new computer appeared in the mail, even after I told them not to bother about it. Now that's customer service.
