Thought I would throw this out there and see if somebody wanted to run with it.

This cargo carrier goes on sale for $70 every once in a while. I have looked them over at the local store. The thing is very rigid and would make a really good starting point.

The 2x2 hitch tube will come right off leaving you with a 22.5x49 inch platform. Set of wheels, hitch and a 1/4 inch piece of ply or a sheet of 1/16 inch of high density plastic (think roll up cutting board stuff) for the floor.

I was looking at picking one up but had a barter deal come through trading a Jogging stroller I got free for a kiddie trailer.

I may still look at doing one of these one day but I think the Kiddie trailer with a floor improvement is going to work out for my needs. I have a couple aluminum pallets (http://www.rhinopallet.com/)at work I am going to cut up and use the slats to put a solid floor in the kiddie trailer. Then throw my Coleman cooler in it for the perishables for Grocery runs.

On a side note I dragged my kid around in the kiddie trailer. Was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was pulling 70lb in my hilly neighbor hood. My only complaint is you can forget about standing up to power up hills. That spring in the hitch acts like a slinky! Just get in lowest gear and peddle. Glad my small chain ring is a 24tooth!
