Radio just reported that a planned ride up Mandeville Canyon was greeted by waving residents, but then at the top they were greeted by a roadway covered with nails. Police were called and they were in the process of cleaning up the nails. A rider who was up there just yesterday said there were no nails the day before.

Awesome... are the nails Dr. Thompson's way of welcoming the riders?

Can't. Seem. To. Spell. Right.
Tried changing spelling of thread title. No go.
Got it for ya! :)

Rediculous. I wonder...if the nails had been left there, how many cars would have had unintended flats today and tomorrow morning. Maybe then they'd start policing the actions of their own residents.

Isn't that a felony?
Did the police save any of the evidence?
I just came back from Mandeville Canyon. I didn't see anything different.

Was probably cleared up before you got there.

That's good to know. The nail incident was being reported in the morning, so they obviously took care of the problem by the time you got up there. Sounds like Doc Evil isn't alone with his feelings toward the cyclists. I haven't ridden Mandeville, so I have no opinion or insights about it as a ride experience. I'd like to ride up at some point soon, just so I know.

Make sure you're packing serious heat when you do. You'll never know when a homicidal doctor will decide to make you eat the pavement.

Its a nice gradual climb with relatively low traffic. I use it as an after work route or when I only have 1.5 to ride and I want a good workout.
I ride Mandeville frequently, even after the Dr. T incident. I try and be more vigilant when I ride it. I have noticed that I get more stares recently from people who live on the street.
