Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Tried no brakes today

Just built this bike today and brake lever wouldn't go on the bars so I hopped on and rode to the LBS to find one. I forgot ONCE that I had no brakes coming to a stop sign.

I won't do that again.

If you don't know how to stop without using a brake you should learn...I think every fixed gear rider should know a variety of stopping/speed controlling skills.

I started with out a brake when I was a total newb but then used it so it's not foreign to me, just forgot for a moment AND I had too tall a gear.
I just wanted to ride the thing

that top tube pad stains really easily.

Have you ever gotten your clown shoes caught in the chain? And how high do you roll your balloon pants so that they don't unroll on you? I'm thinking about starting to ride while dressed as a clown and want to know how to do it properly.

I bet clown shoes make Ted-shredding it pretty effective though, huge surface area.

I love riding brakeless with no foot retention because when I'm spinning really fast and a foot slips off and I can't get my feet back on the pedals so I'm just sitting there on the seat with my legs sticking out so they don't get whacked by the pedals and going :eek: "Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!" because I can't stop and I'm going to get hurt really bad... I think that must look pretty cool.

Almost as cool as the big chunks missing from my face because I use melon-ballers for handlebars.
