Long Distance Competition/Ultracycling, Randonneuring and Endurance Cycling - My opinion on long rides. A requirement

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I don't know about you all but... If I'm going to bike anything more than 50 miles I'm going to need to use The Seat or a seat that doesn't crunch your nerves in whatever that area is called 0_0. Seriously these banana seats just plain are uncomfortable. I've read an MD study or two that suggests pressure in that area is a cause of impotency in many male bikers ! I however am not a professional on the issue, I just read stuff :P

I already have 2 children, they are very expensive. Every time I read about impotency due to cycling I get out and ride 40 more miles.

+1

If I father another kid at this point in my life, I'll have to go to their high school graduation in one of those Jazzy Mobility Scooters!

They do make condoms you know. I don't necessarily want more children, but I also want my funstick to continue working. ;)

Take a look at this (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=408695) thread. I've been riding one of the experimental saddles, and it has been tremendous for me. Obviously, your mileage may vary, and I don't think these will go cheaply when they start rolling off the production line next month, but definitely it's worth considering.

I've done up to 210 miles in a single day on my B.17 Imperial (review in the linked thread). I agree that it's worth considering; I've been a huge proponent of the B.17 since I bought my first Champ. Std. a couple years ago, and now I can't say enough good things about the Imperial.

Also, YMMV. Some people absolutely hate the Imperial. One of the things to look at in the reviews is the amount of mileage people are putting in. Quite a few of the vocal antagonists were putting in very low mileage, which seasoned Brooks riders would barely call enough to break the saddle in. There were a few people who put in big miles and still didn't like it.
