Hi

I am looking to pick up a new hrm as my battery ran out on the polar and just prefer to sell that and purchase a new one.

Can anyone who has used sigma offer any pros or cons that will help me decide what direction to go
appreciate any ideas

thank you

I have a Sigma Onyx Fit model HRM and I like it a lot however I've had to replace the batteries in it too fairly early on. I guess that it was old stock being sold on eBay which is why I got it for a good price. Anyway the Onyx Fit model is quite useful enough for me with its 3 heart rate zone memory function. While your riding there is a graphic display that shows roughly which zone you are in and after the ride you can recall quite a bit of data from the ride.

EDIT: Just to add, the Onyx series are digital rather than analog like the PC series.

At least with the Sigma Onyx series HRM's both the unit and strap batteries are user replaceable. I've replaced the battery in the strap myself easily. The battery compartment lid on the unit needs a tool with 2 prongs so I haven't replaced that myself yet but it would be a 2 minute job at any watch place. It doesn't need to be sent back to Sigma. Like all HRM's the contacts on the strap need to be moist but the unit has been pretty reliable so far.

I just had a battery replaced in my Polar. It was pretty quick and painless. Unless you have other issues with your's, you can probably get the battery switched out pretty quickly. I've also hear about plenty of people doing it themselves. I guess as long as you are not using it under water, it would be okay. You might even check the local watch shop and have them do it.

Thats is a good idea, I actually was thinking about that. The only thing is the chest strap also needs a battery.
