I like my handlebars low and the stock cables are made to accommodate the highest handlebar position. It's not a particularly big deal but as some stage I'd like to shorten the cables to tidy the bike up a bit. However it's not necessarily going to be straightforward to make sure the length is right so that there's no obstruction to the fold. Well, I can't think there'd be a problem unless the cables want to hang at just the same level as the magnet. The cables are most stretched when the handlepost latch is in the middle of folding, i.e. at 90 degrees, so I figure if I have a bit of slack in that position that should give me the correct length. Has anyone been through this and have any pointers?

Yes, you got it right; but if you do shorten them, you have to make sure you always set the handlebars to lowest position when folding or unfolding or you'll wreck the noodle.

I shortened the cables on my 20" Dahon, and I added cable ties to the front noodle.

Yeah, I get a lot of noise whilst riding from flapping cables. Do you have a pic of how you've organised yours?
