The gears on a Trek bike that are adjusted by a proper bike shop will be easy to use, and there will be plenty of low gears to tackle the hills. If you find the hill too tough, stop and take out your camera, to take a picture of the fabulous view. A glasses or helmet mounted mirror makes passing traffic a lot less scary. A FlashFlag sticking out to the side of your bike makes cars give more space as they pass. Good luck.

Hello Eddie, you can do it! A bike trail is a good place to start re-learning, as long as you mind the walkers, runners, and doggers.
Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !
