Road Cycling - Bicycling Article/Diagram on fitting your bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The latest "Buyer's Guide" that I got today from Bicycling Magazine has a nice diagram on some techniques of fitting a road bike.

I used it to fine tune my newest bike, and it was helpful. It is pretty simple, but, then, I am a simple kind of guy!

I know there are lots of articles, etc., on bike fit, but this worked for me today. It is near the back, past all the ads!

Well, don't be too disappointed.

This "Buyer's Guide" seems to be one great big ad of praises for bikes that mostly advertise in Bicycling. I didn't find one negative word about any of the bikes they chose to "review."

Beyond the "fit" article, and a nice summary of the different quality levels for Shimano and Campy (and I was not very familiar with Campy) it makes a good doorstop!

I agree... the buyer's guide is usually filled with ads... the pictures are nice... but I agree... mostly a doorstop, and not enough content

I got mine yesterday as well. Took about 15 minutes to go through cover-to-cover. Not much real content anymore, but I guess you get what you pay for.

In was good to see our local framebuilder, Sano Cycle Works, included in the Custom bike section. I was in the shop last month and saw the bike they had just finished painting for the photo.

Agree Bicycling doesn't have a lot of content anymore. Articles seem to be ad-oriented, plus favorable writeups on everything new and expensive, with a heavy dose of hype. I'm sure it helps them gain support from their big advertisers, and helps the Rodale Press bottom-line, but it doesn't do much for us riders. I used to subscribe 10-15 years ago and it seemed to me the magazine was less commercial then....they actually put out some training programs and helpful info.

I do think that in the last year there have been more articles in depth and with broader coverage - i.e., osteoporosis, touring, etc. I do think they are listening a bit.

The Buyer's Guide happens to be particularly commercial!

As I get my subscription free (League of American Bicyclists membership benefit) I can't really complain!

(As I sit here recovering from a 4 day illness, riding my trainer at half speed and resting every now and then while typing on the computer)!

Is it still in the wrapper? Your mail man/lady might not be finished reading it yet.

There is also a page in the Veltec AD section touting their cyclefitusa.com website - an interactive fitting site. Unfortunately, the site is not up yet.

I agree...too many ads.
