can someone explain to me the differences in years of the pista concept frameset?

from looking at pictures i can see fork and seat tube differences at first glance. looks wise- i liek the 05 or 06... but they seem to be hard to find.

i'm not regretting my felt curbside... it serves it's purpose... but i want something more serious before i dump money into the felt

thanks guys

huh?

he means that the felt has has is called a felt "curbside" and he doesn't regret buying it, he doesn't want to spend anymore money into the felt as he's considering a REAL track frame in the concept

to the OP , concepts suck holmes

You want a "legit track bike" so that you can throw a hed3 on a be ballin with the other ****ups and only once you've wasted your money on that then you'll waste money upgrading your felt?

I don't think there really is a difference aside from the color scheme. They are all the same 7005 aluminum. They are nice bikes, but right now is a terrible time to buy one. The demand far outweighs the supply and used framesets are selling for hundreds of dollars more than they cost new.

What is it about the Pista Concept that attracts you? There are quite a few other light weight aluminum track frames that can be had for less money.

ok ur a jack***. **** you. get a ****ing life. the hed3 question yesterday was out of curiosity.. i would never buy them... i liek toi lace wheel. i'll always have laced wheels. that has nothign to do with this.

the hed3 thing was also a joke. get the **** over yourself. ur the reason people dont ride bikes anymore because they are scared of ***holes like you. bikes are fun... that's it.. **** you.:trainwreck:

a few friends have them and love them... what other frames would u recommend? btw thank you for an honest response and actyually being helpful

what other frames would u recommend?
Felt Tk2
Cannondale Capo (Have one and love it)
Leader (I think it's ugly but some really like it)
Fuji Track Pro

If none of those strike your fancy, you could go for the more expensive:
Cinelli Vigorelli
Eddy Merckx Track

Those are just the few that come to mind, but pretty much all of the major bike makers have a decent aluminum track frame (some are just harder to find than others). Good luck!

my mechanic friend was telling me a few lesser known differences between the '03 and '04 that make '04 and later concepts superior. i can't remember those differences though.

good luck finding any year concept though. '07/'08 will probably be the easiest to find but $$$$$. i'd say better off to wait until '09.

and yeah, dutret's right - there's better bikes to ride and lock up on the street, i.e. steel ones. one accident with the concept could equal totaled frame, and one too many trick usually equals cracked/damaged fork.

The Jamis Sonik is another bike to consider as well. http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/bikes/08_bikes/08sonik.html

Easier to find than a Pista Concept, and an all round nicer bike IMO.

I've never been on a Jamis myself, but i've only heard good things.

Leader (I think it's ugly but some really like it)

I agree that the leader is ugly, and some people really like it, but i have also heard a few things going the other way on it. It is definitely a light, stiff track oriented frame, but, imho, the welds look a bit iffy.

If you were going to get an entry track frame it would be good, but if you are looking at something of similar quality to the concept, i think that there are some better ones (like the rest of Gambutrol's list)

if i had roughly 600 bucks to drop on a frame i would probably go with one of these

I think the main reason people don't ride bikes is because they're lazy and addicted to car culture. No matter how much of a disincentive to ride Dutret probably is to you, in the grander scheme of things, I would guess that most people remain unaffected by this horrible, horrible man.

Also, the Jamis Sonik seems like a pretty legit stock track bike to me. If I were getting serious about racing on the track, I would consider that before a Concept unless I could find a crazy deal on a Concept.

What about the D2 Alum? It is the track frame that Bianchi made after all the Conceptualizing.

thanks for the input guys... i doubt i'll actually get into track racing itself. this bike is just going to be for training only. based on that... what should i be looking for? mayeb just a normal pista? is the geometry the same?

^^what kind of training^^^

I can get it shipped from the motherland(Italy) according to the Bianchi rep here in Canada(not sure how far I trust him though) . I have a couple contacts in Rome that would ship for me as well, one's a Bianchi branded shop, *sigh* but lack of funds make it a moot point. I still want one though, I think it's way nicer than the Concept. I've loved Bianchi's since the 80's

my buddy in LA bought a complete concept for $500.

turned around and sold it for $700 without the wheels a week later because he already has another aluminum bike.

Complete?? Thats a killer deal... even for a new frameset, its good. One of my local shops has a new frameset hanging in the window for $575. I'm thinking of buying it just to put it on eBay to get like $675 for it haha.
