I see two bike rides coming up down on the coast (I'm in Dallas area). One is Conquer the Coast in Corpus Christi, one is Ride the Coast in Galveston. Any of you folks down that way that have done both of these? Is one considerably better than the other? I could probably do either one, but won't do both. I've been in both areas, both routes have attractions, but I've never ridden either route, either. (I'm good for 40-60 miles, but slow, if that helps.)

I don't know anything about the events themselves. The Galveston event will be on very flat terrain, but be ready for sidewinds.

I've done conquer the coast. Had a good time. Very flat terrain except for a brief climb over the harbor bridge and the JFK causeway bridge. Plenty of water stops and good traffic control. The 16 mile trip down mustang island from Port Aransas to the Packery Channel Jetties can get pretty windy if the wind is blowing from the southeast, which is normal. The rest of the trip will have you with tail or rear quartering winds. Plenty of nice motels right by the start/finish line.

Well, the website shows that the ride in Galveston has already been cancelled, so that takes care of that choice. I was looking forward to it, too.
