Has anyone ridden the road that goes up to the top of Mt. Greylock? I'd like to take a trip out there and do the ride but am curious about the road conditions and what not.

Thanks!

I've ridden up Mt. Greylock many times, but not the last year or this year because I was told it's still closed due to road work. I always climb Greylock from the North Adams side, and use a gear ratio of 52/39 and 11-25. I'll see if I can find info on when they plan on opening it up again, or if it's open already.

I was just on the Mt. Greylock website the road is closed until 2009.

Well that stinks, are there any similar climbs in or near Western Mass? I'm located a bit south of Amherst now.

If you want a couple of fun rolling routes you could go around the Quabbin Reservoir. I like doing it by taking rte. 9(east) out of Belchertown then rte 32 to 32A(North) to rte. 122(west) to rte 202(west) back to Belchertown.
or
Out of Agawam I like rte 57(west) Feeding Hills Road into New Boston and back.
