I'm shooting a football game this Friday under typical high school lighting. I'm sick of redeye so i finally broke down and went online to buy a flash bracket. I was quickly reminded of why i don't own one yet. It's the same reason it took me so long to buy an off shoe chord. At $70 and $50 respectively, i find them vastly over priced.

In the true nature of the men in my family (trust me) i went out to the garage, found some steel, a drill, torch and a ruler, and made my own. It's rudimentary at best but for Friday's purpose it will work just fine. But it got me thinking...i'd like to start fabricating them and selling them on ebay.

This isn't so much "shill-like" in nature but i am wondering if any of you are in a similar situation and have a request of sorts to give me some ideas in what people are looking for. Perhaps some advice on projects like this.

A good quality grip, I hate the foamy cheepo grips.

A slab of neoprene between the bracket and the camera would be a nice touch too.

Like molded rubber...like a "gun style" or what? I've never really minded the feel of those foam grips except that if they are too thick i feel it takes away some stability from my grip/camera when i've got heavier stuff on it.

Lasers, explosions, and apple pie. That's what I'm looking for in a flash bracket.

A good rubber one. I always end up replacing mine with a bike grip. The foam ones tear up too quickly for my tastes.

Oh a tripod thread on the bracket itself (between the camera and the flash handle), so you can mount the whole thing on a tripod.

An RPG would be nice for weddings, but only if you can find one that fits easily into a camera bag.
