I found a pairs of Shimano 600 shift levers in the back of a cabinet. I bought them twenty years ago and misplaced them. They are indexed for 6 or 7 gears. Can I make them work with nine gears? Thanks.

Yeah, you can use them in friction mode.

If your question was can they be set to index for 9 or 10 gears, the answer is no. If you are willing to use them in friction mode, yes they will work.
