Hawaii (the big island) has some awesome trails. Hundreds of miles of xc mtn biking. I was born in Hilo on the big island, but never really mtn biked there.

Dreamride (http://www.dreamride.com/hawaii.html), a semi-local company to me (out of Moab, UT) offers a great tour in Hawaii, however they are very pricy, im not sure if its worth the cost or not.

Im sure you can find local companies in Hawaii for a much better price, you may want to start your search for mtn bike tours out of Kona, however you may also find a company or two out of Hilo.

There’s some awesome mtn biking in Molokai, I think that’s the island I would hit up first for mtn biking a trip to Hawaii. But don’t limit yourself to mtn biking, get in some paragliding, and snorkeling too :)

Nice basic link: http://www.hawaii.com/activities/biking/

I was in Maui last December. Seems the roads along the coast had decent bike lanes and lots of road bikes were to be seen. The scenery for the cyclists was so great, I would be a little fearful of keeping my eyes glued to the road. Unfortunately, I did not take my bike.
Could see Molokai in the distance, looked like the possibilites for mountain bikers would be incredible. Like the idealic south sea island.

There's a book called Mountain Biking the Hawaiian Islands - I have it but we never went MTB in HI.

It also lists some local shops that can help you out.

When are you going?
