FYI a Peugeot Comet is on Ebay. The auction ends shortly. The Comet is a bonded aluminum framed bicycle made in the mid to late 80's. There were minor issues with frame reliability. With Peugeots pullout of the American market the decided to release themselves of any pending liability by recalling the Comet and Galaxie models. This bike is not supposed to be in public hands!!!

I recently had a friend drop off a Comet for me to tune up but before I do anyting with it I would like to give him some more info on this recall. Any idea where I can find some more info?

I dont know where you can get info on the recall other than Peugeots North American agent, cyclesport? in Canada. Personaly, I wouldnt pursue it. Peugeot was trying to release themselves from future/possible litigation before they pulled out of the American market.


Peugeot Galaxie were spec'd with Shimano 105
Peugeot Cometes were spec'd with Huret/Maillard

Both weighed 19.8lbs...very impressive for the mid to late 80's. As a reference, Peugeots flagship of the day, the PZ-10, weighed 21.2, and the PX-10 was 21.0.

They were replaced with 105 equipted Triathlon models.
