Hello, I'm Allan from Columbus OH. Nice to meet everyone. Don't feel obligated to respond - cool group here, lots of information. This is my first post.

Well, I went ahead and ordered this thing from nycewheels before *gulp* doing much forum research. I'm a fairly new cyclist and without a car right now (long story). So, needing to do ~ 20 miles [total] up to 5 times a week. Did I choose something good LOL? I got the most basic Bionix option + throttle.

I probably should have chosen something with bigger wheels but I really like the way this bike looks and the fold up feature is awesome. I rode a non-electric Dahon MuP8 at a local store and loved it. Whether it's going to survive commuting though --- *fingers crossed*

Your top speed is gonna be pretty low (using bionx on a small wheel bike), but low top speed usually means long range too.

And "low" top speed for an e-bike means 15mph or faster, and good speed on uphills - which is actually pretty fast compared to your typical non-electric bicycle commuter.

As far as quality/reliability of the bike and bionx system - i've heard nothing but good stuff about bionx and dahon. Congratulations!

Well, I just found out that my order may be delayed anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks! (the site advertised 2 day shipping)

Hmm... does anyone else sell this model? It doesn't seem like it. Thanks for the feedback though - sounds like a good bike if I ever get it haha!

You can check out Electric Cyclery in L.A.. (www.electriccyclery.com) They've got lots of options, including Bionx and the Dahon foldies. It looks like you'd have to order the motor kit and the bike separately.

My order from them (for a Bionx kit) took 6 weeks, though, due to unavailability of one choice and then I messed up when re-ordering, etc.. Your best bet is to call them and see what's available before placing an order.
