Fifty Plus (50+) - Bottle cages

Do any of you use those seat post type double water bottle cages? If you do how do you like them?

Haven't talked to you in a long time. No, I haven't tried the seat post water bottles because I like the frame mounted ones so I can get my hands on them easy. On long rides I mount a bag on my seat post when riding the DF. Because I mostly ride the recumbent now, I can carry about anything I want where ever I want. Good riding, George.

I have seen them but I haven't used one. Two frame mounted bottles seems to work for me. If I need more I tend to stop for a refill. But one of the guys that we ride with has them and he seems to like his.

How you been John, I haven't seen you around for a while. I'm heading out to Fort Davis the week after next, by car. They have that Cyclefest going on and I wanted to take off by myself and do a 50 or 60 mile ride. I read where water is pretty hard to come by out there so that's the reason, I'm going to carry 4 water bottles. I tried the Camebak, but didn't care for it. I figure if I have 4 waters bottle, that should take me a little over 3 hours. Anyhow thanks for the replies guys and safe riding to ya.

I'm not crazy about them and my "experiment" with them last only a week. I found them too hard to reach compared to the bottles on my down tube and seat tube. Additionally, instead of "rooster tail" on the back of your jersey, you get it on your bottles. In fact, it seemed to me that the bottles got much dirtier there regardless of weather conditions.

I've been using one of them lately because I'm running out of bottle cage locations. I use up one of the cages to carry a "cage rocket" container for my camera and stuff that I don't want to get mixed up with the tools and spare parts. They work ok but I tend to use them like a ready storage rack.............change a full one from there for an empth one on the frame.

They are perfect for extra water.
You can reach while riding.
I used them on The Indy 100 mile ride last June.
Carry them on rides each day here in Hot Texas.

Thanks, that's a good shot. I was wondering about my wedge bag fitting. I ordered one yesterday, but I didn't go with the saddle mount, I went with the seat post mount, so I could put it a little lower.

I use them on longer trips.....usually rotate bottles from there to my downtube cages and move the empty bottles back there as I go.....just seems to be easier than mounting more bottle cages on the frame or on the forks...

Have had them loosen up a few times and almost lost a bolt.....caught it and got some locktite asap...

have been using them for about 2 years now...

I put my bottles on the other end of the bike, where I can reach them. :)
