Hello all. I am looking forward to reading the gold mine of info I think I will find here. I started bike commuting to work at the beginning of the Summer and managed to ride about 750 miles in three months. I know 750 miles isn't a big deal but in that same three months, I only fueled up my car three times. THAT'S a big deal.
I'm riding a 1993 Giant Cadex CFM2. I am amazed at the speed I can get out of a low-geared mountain bike just by switching to smooth, high-pressure tires. The bike has a Suntour XC Comp group...parts are getting hard to come by. I will be looking to this forum for advice on new components if this set is damaged. I'm also a noob when it comes to bike maintenance so I'll likely lean on you for maintenance advice.
I'm also interested in touring and am saving pennies for a touring bike, maybe a Novara Randonee.
