Hey everyone, i have noticed some cracks on my carbon fiber fork...It's a Giant Ocr3>>fork: formulaOne Composite w/aluminum steerer. I'm not sure if it's a serious problem.

Me neither - are you maybe just being concerned about some non-perfect weaving? Take it to s LBS is you are concerned.

Those "lines" are far too regular to be cracks. The criss cross is part of the weave and the longitudinal lines are part of the mold if you can feel them with your fingers or are in the weave if the fork leg is smooth.

The lines are threads that keep the carbon-fibre weave together. The fabric tends to do a scissoring type of flexing that changes the angle between the criss-cross fibres. The threads keeps the fabric square instead of letting it scissor into parallelograms.

Besides, that top woven layer is cosmetic anyway, so don't worry about it. The real work is done by the unidirectional layers underneath.

Just curious... what service did you use to post those images?

Looks like Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/) to me.

I like how it brings up the image. I've been using ImageShack, but have seen some complain about IS piggybacking viruses or somesuch. But I don't see how Flickr sets up the image for posting. I'm used to how IS does it.
