After riding it all summer I love to ride it, but snow comes here, lots of it, has anyone driven one in snow before? I had a neat idea that I might add to my xtra, If they handle well i'm making it, Bike snow mobile lol I'm gonna alter a rear rim into track and a ski for front lol

I seen those before, it would be easy to make one, and cheaper to.

If it really snows wherever you live, just get studded tires. They are really unnecesary in a city enviorenment.

I live in canada, lots o snow here, and that kit would be of great help, however, looking at that I can alter a bike into it, like My xtra, get another triangle and make something like that, since my Xtra is quick release It's easy to swap tails, maybe a snow mobile ski for front, or down hill ski, shouldn't be that hard, I've made an ice bike in the past, it was fun, riding on blades is not so safe. lol

We get a lot of snow up here in Northern Michigan and I am thinking I might just have to build one of these. Good thing I have access to the metal shop here.

Back to the OP (that tracked thing is stoopid)

yes, Xtracycles work well in the snow. At least here in the Boston nw 'burbs. I found two things:
1 - even with the Nokian W106 studded tire on front, the front wheel could drift a little cornering in more than about 3" of snow, but it was rock solid on the ice. Mind you, speed should be somewhat reduced if you hope to keep it upright, but I found I could recover from front wheel slides when riding with the Xtracycle attached, and never could before that.
2 - rear-end drift is also easier to recover from. I never had much trouble with recovery from rear wheel skids anyway, but the Xtra seems to act like a kite tail or something - even if it skids, it just sorta comes back in line. Hard to explain. And that's with a fairly tread-less tire, I use street tires not knobbies and never got around to installing the second studded tire on the back. Never needed it, plus the way I swapped out the studded tire on front was by swapping wheels, and I didn't have a reasonable facsimilie of my rear wheel to do the same like I did for the front.

just..... I didn't see any fenders on it. I'd think if you need something that aggresive for the snow you'd definitely need a fender on the rear. :p

Thanks for the info, I wouldn't mind the kit though because some paths on the way to work don't get plowed, with that , well what I make i'll be able to use them, just gotta find the right track material , fenders, well maybe a front is needed, the back's covered by a skateboard.

I think this one is mainly built for playing with in the slalom slopes. There is alot of "downhill snowbiking" happening. Guess they are bored with slalom, snowboard, twintip`s and so on. This one would be too heavy to ride on a flat road, especially in snow. Maybe for playing on the ice..

i'm thinking a surly big dummy with some large marge's would fit you well.

I hear good things about studded tires, i plan to run some this winter.
