Introductions - Hello from Guelph, Ontario

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, I'm new to this area, just moved here a couple of months ago. I like it here so far, there's more bike lanes here than anywhere else I've ever lived, and town council seems quite green-oriented. I can't say that I'm thinkingof starting to commute because of altruism, just that one of my family's vehicles was repo'ed (good riddance) and the other one is hard to find parking space for and falling apart. At least the bus system recently got upgraded, with better scheduling, and most of what I need (groceries, pharmacy, pizza shop,Mac's store) are within walking distance.

Hello varga-girl, what bike are you riding? Cars do tend to take up a big chunk of money, and if you can live without one--great!
Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !

Hi varga-girl, I live in Guelph too. This city looks and feels different from other cities in southern Ontario, which is great! There's a higher proportion of cyclists here too, and they cycle well through the winter.
Overall a bicycle-friendly city, I think you will enjoy it.

Hello, Welcome.
I lived in Guelph in my highschool days (Now grad student). I still come down for a visit once in a while. I've never biked in the city so I can't really say how bike-friendly it is.
