I was just asked to show up near Portland on short notice. Assuming I can get an evening off, are there any restaurants or sight-seeing that shouldn't be missed ?

Depends on what you like. There's a decent little shopping center just to the north in Tualatin if you're looking for a place to eat. (I-5, Exit 290, go west)

Nothing really tourist-y tho'. Most of that is about 30mins north in Portland. Some of the stuff (parks, waterfalls, etc) aren't so useful at night. You could go to Powell's if you like books tho'. :)

If you're the shopping type, you might instead want to go 15 miles south to the Woodburn factory stores rather than north. I'm not the shopping type, but from what I hear, they're worth the trip. That also gets down into wine country, so you can spend an evening going tasting.

If you want a casual resturaunt, find a McMenamin's. They're a very popular local chain that buys old buildings and restores them for their use. It's like a Red Robin, but with genuine character, rather than the prepackaged kind. They have their own beers on tap, and each one has a few menu items unique to that location. John Barleycorns (http://mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=22&category=Location%20Homepage) is probably the easiest to get to from Wilsonville.

The downtown Portland waterfront is nice to see at night.

The only attractions I know of actually in Wilsonville are Fry's Electronics (if that counts) and Bullwinkles Family Fun Center (put-put, arcade, go-karts)...it's not exactly a hopping suburb.
