Yep. Rule no. 1 in fighting in a race is take your shoes off. I saw a couple of guys taunting each other after a crash and then they start taking their shoes off in preparation for the fight. Its actually pretty funny to see "I'm gonna kick your ass!" as he's hopping on one foot pulling off his shoe. Luckily, no fight as others pulled them away.
