Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - clyde bike question

Do any clydes have full carbon framed bikes? If so what bikes and how much of a clyde are you? Sorry for the weight question but it is the olny way I will know. Or I can give my weight and you can share any information that will help. I am around 240lbs or so and losing.

I am looking at the Tarmac Elite Comp or the Felt F75.

I'm 5'10" 235ish and ride a '06 Giant OCR Limited.:love: No issues to date.

I've never seen weight limitations on spec sheets for frames. I have seen limitations for wheels and pedals.

At 240 you shouldn't have any problems, just get a good set of wheels.

IF you do go w/ low spoke count wheels, it is recommended to get them trued and spokes retensioned after a couple hundred miles. this goes a long way in preventing broken spokes

I followed the advice on this forum and had them trued and tensioned after a few hundred miles. This was intended as a purely preventive maintenance action because they appeared true. Actually, they needed to be tensioned. Otherwise, no problems to date

I ride with a guy who is about 6'3" and about 275. Rides a Trek Madone frame and had had no issues. Wheels are a different story.

Thanks guys I have tested the Felt F55 out and have ruled that out. Although the all DuraAce components were nice the frame was very rigid and beat me up. I am liking the Tarmac Expert and the 09 Giant TCR Alliance. Both of these bikes have a nice ride. I am leaning towards the Tarmac Expert as it has a nicer frame and all ULtegra SL components on it.

I have the 2008 Tarmac Expert Ultegra (58cm) with the original Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels. I am 6'3" and weight around 225 or so now. I started at about 235 or so.

I am absolutely 110% happy with this bike. It is by far the fastest bike I have ever ridden.

I have a Specialized Roubaix Pro. Carbon Pave seat post cracked at the top of the seat tube. If you go with the Tarmac you may want to consider an aluminum seat post even though the Tarmac secures the seat post differently than the Rouobaix. I'm 250.

I'm 6'3" and 240 (down from 265) and ride a full OCLV 110 carbon Trek Madone. It's a $5000 bike I bought off ebay for about $2,000. It has the stock Bontrager Race Lite wheels, even though I expected them to not be great, and I've had no problem with them in about a thousand miles of riding this year. I ride hilly terrain in New Hampshire.

I don't think the frame material will be an issue. Make sure you get sturdy wheels.

I am 6'-2" 240 lb and ride a Bianci 928 C2C full carbon bike with Campy SCIROCCO Silver wheels. 27 spokes on the rear and 20 spoke on the front. So far so good. Hope it stays that way because the bike is a pleasure to ride.
