Road Cycling - Need 2x tights that are actually 2x, preferably winter weight

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi,
I have some Nashbar Windrider tights. They fit. But they would also fit someone 8 inches taller than me. I have had people laugh because they are so baggy. The 2x tights from
Velowear, and the one pair I got from Performance, that I got were too small. Like many bike clothes, they ran a size small. I am going to be spending a lot of time on my bike this year, and would really like a pair that fits. Any suggestions? Maybe custom or something?

Ive got some Nalini Super-Roubaix Bib Tights. They are a true European 6 (XXL). What is your heigth/weight?
They are not plain wimpy lycra, but Super-Roubaix fabric, which looks like lycra on the outside, but feels like velvet on the inside. Very warm. They have the same Nalini Pad and Chamois as the Pro Shorts that the sponsored teams wear. Plus they stretch, so they are not going to be baggy. And being bib tights they wont ride up or down on you either.
They are brand new in the bag still, as I bought a few pairs, but havent worn them all yet. They are a Dark Navy Blue and retail for around $110.00 I will sell them to you for $50.00 if you want em. Let me know and I can email you pictures.
Hi,
Email me your address. I'll try a pair, thanks. I am 5' 8" but what I think I'll do is cut the bottom off and use them as longish knickers.

I wear 2X in some models and not in others. Never had this problem. How tall are you?
I am 5'8". When I put on tights that'll fit someone 6'4" the effect is not something I want to pay $80-100 for....

Have you tried on Pearl Izumis?

Stay away from bib tights/shorts. It should not really be a big deal or cost to go to a local tailor and have the bottoms cut and the leg grippers sewn back in.
My experience with most 2X is that they are made for people more my size.
Hi,
I haven't tried Izumi tights. I have tried on other things from them, and always found them to be about 2 sizes small.

That's interesting. I have a pair of Izumi bib knickers that are almost one size too big - and I've never had that problem with any other brand.
Hi Smoothie,
thank you very much! I may have to lose a little weight to get into them, but that was the plan anyway. Can't wait! Thanks again.

Well, I used to wear a 42" inch waist pantsize and found the Pearl Izumi 2X perfect sized. (I'm now a 34" waist and find the L to be perfect sized)
Just an update....
I got the tights from Smoothie some time ago. They looked great, but the weather stunk. I went on an easy 20 mile ride today, and they were great. Soooo comfy. I am afraid this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...and an expensive one! Thanks again, Smoothie.

I have bought some Santini bib tights from www.bikejerseys.com
He has them on sale right now.. They are warm and comfortable.. Look at the sizing chart.. Usually if you normally wear a Large then an XL will fit fine.. Here is a link:

You can also email them with your height - weight and they will tell you what will fit.. They are not overly long.. Great quality at a good price..

late,
they fit ok?
Yeah, those are nice eh? So much better than just regular lycra.
For those interested, I have a pair of size 3 in Black, brand new with tags.
