Road Cycling - Madone or 5900 2005 on the Algarve tour??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just saw on the TV a summary of the Tour d'Algarve and Lance Armstrong was riding a new bike (not the TT bike)
It looks the bike was a mix between the Madone and the 5900.
The horizontal bar is like the Madone, but the vertical bar does not have the aero add-on (between the vertical bar and the rear wheel)
I took a picture of my TV screen and will post it (despite a bad quality) here tonight.
Has anyone heard/seen anything about that?

Lance being Lance gets and tests bike long before we see or hear of them. Sounds like this may be the story here. Seeing as how this would be a tune up race I can see Lance/Trek using it as a testbed.
I found this picture over at roadbikereview:

Well done for the picture, this is what I saw on the TV!
So...seems I was right!
Looks like a Madone without the aero add-on on the vertical bar!
So is this the Madone 2005 or the 5900 2005?
Regarding the name, I'll say that it has to be a climbing bike so this is the new Madone which, without the whole aero design should be lighter than the current one!
Thanks for the picture!

A source I have talked with Trek about this. It isn't 2005 Madone or new 5900.
Trek uses lugs and glues frame together. It is easy and they just put together a Madone with 5900 seatube as an experiment for Lance. Nothing other than that. No plans for production yet.

I had heard that the madone was a very rough-riding beast, perhaps they were trying to soften the ride a tad.
Out of curiosity, do you pronounce Madone as May-Done, May-Doon, May-Dun or Mad-One? Or something else?
