My LBS quoted me such a good price on the TREK 5200
I was thinking of going with the 5500 so I could get the Dura-Ace.
Am I likely to feel and difference between the Dura-Ace vs Ultegra
and will the Dura-Ace be more durable, or is this all marketing hype?
I ride recreationally abt 2-3000 mi per year. I am riding a TREK 1100
right now which has SunTour gearing so I am sure either
choice will be a world of difference. I am going to test ride the 5200 on Sat.
(can't wait!)

I'll take the one with Ultegra. I don't think there is a lot of difference between the 2, except a little less weight and a lot more money! Of course the Dura-Ace is said to last longer, but...from my opinion, the most important factor regarding how long it could last is how you take care of it.

And with the difference (in money) you can buy a great set of wheels!

The new DA is really nice but for 2-3k of rec riding a year, it's total overkill.

Other than components, the only difference is the fork (80 grams at that).

You may want to check out the new 5000 also which is even cheaper at 2k retail but still has the really nice OCLV120 frameset.
