I have recently put my new SS together with a set of Speedplay X pedals. They are great for my knees and don't want to give them up for anything, at least not now. My problem is that I have Diadora road shoes and with the huge Speedplay cleats, walking is often like trying to walk on ice. I have heard from a Yojombo's great Marcus that Lake makes a shoe that has enough of a hole in them to subsume the entire cleat within and allow you to walk like a normal human being. Anybody know what model these are? Anybody have any other shoe suggestions for this problem?
Thanks,
Your Shaky-Walking Skitbra
Better yet...how about some street-walking shoes? These puppies should have plenty of excess sole to cut-away a slab and mount the speedplay cleats. I hear Tyler Hamilton has these in green...I think they would play well in Chicago...

i use the coffee shop covers, it makes them pretty easy to walk in.

The Lake commuter shoes woork with a little mod to the sole. However, the X-cleat is not completely covered by the tread of the shoe, so Cafe covers are still needed. I ran the Lakes for about a year, then cut the lugs off of the soles.

I actually think Skitbra is more of a "stilleto heel" type.

I barfed and laughed at the same time. How would you feel them through your Magilla Gorilla-esque back hair?

A) You must have baughed (barf + laugh). Pourtmanteaus are for everybody!
B) You shaved my back, remember?

Please re-read you response to me stating your affection towards "stiletto-heeled" footwear. You just had to go further...

He's probably still got them. He used 'em occasionally for a couple of months and then his bike got ripped off, and he quit riding. Bah. Should I ask? I think they were around size 10. Not sure if he wants to go through the trouble of shipping and all that, but I'd be happy to check into it. Interested?
Don't know if they'd work with anything besides SPDs.

if they are in pretty good shape, and a good deal, then yeah... I wear a size 9... but can fudge a little... in Vans, I can wear a 9 or 9.5
